Colorado

We did all of Colorado in one sunset and one sunrise. We probably could have made it to Denver the evening that we left Bryce Canyon, but who wants to see the Rockies in the dark? Instead we decided to stay in Eagle and get some rest, which was one of the best decisions we made the entire trip.

I was really hoping to stop in one of the resort towns in the Rockies, if we had the time. I had been to Telluride before and loved it, but not Aspen or Vail. As we approached exit signs for Vail and saw the peaks of the lodges come into sight, it became pretty clear to both Mom and I that we HAD to stop there. Mom pulled over in town while I jumped out and took as many pictures as I could in 10 minutes. We both agreed that a future vacation in Vail is going to be absolutely necessarily. I mean, LOOK AT IT.

The next town we stopped in was Frisco. The images below are all from their Historic Park and Museum, which is so beautifully designed and well kept. The welcome sign when you enter the state says “Welcome to Colorful Colorado,” and I have to say that towns like Frisco and Vail really make good on that promise.

We closed out our time in Colorado in Denver, where my Uncle Peter took us to an early lunch at Sliceworks. Guys…I know I live in New York. I KNOW THIS. But I think this was some the best pizza that I have ever had in my life. Instead of giving you bread for the table, they give you MINI SLICES OF PIZZA while you wait for your meal. Brilliant.
